Fireplace built into a wall
Already have an existing bookshelf or media wall, but want to add a personalised finishing touch? You can easily add a fireplace built into your existing wall. A bioethanol fireplace can bring a warm, cosy atmosphere to a room, and you can enjoy the glow of the flames while watching a good film at the same time. Even though a bioethanol fire is mainly decorative, it still gives off a bit of heat, so the fire will certainly add that extra cosy atmosphere.

Media wall with a 3-sided built-in fireplace
Want to see the flames from several sides? You can also integrate a three-sided fireplace into your TV wall unit. By choosing this option for your TV fireplace wall, you can build a three-sided fireplace and a television into the media wall and see the flames from three sides.
Built-in three-sided fireplaces come in two different types – what we call a 3-sided fireplace or a room divider. The room divider is characterised by two long sides and one short side, while the three-sided fireplace has two short sides and one long side. Integrated TV with a bioethanol burner
It's possible to build a TV wall unit with just a bioethanol burner. If you choose this option, you can build the wall almost exactly as you want it. You can choose to add a small burner, but also a slim or longer burner. This solution also gives you flexibility when it comes to customisation and choosing unique materials for your fireplace. For example, you can choose to add tiles inside and outside the fireplace.
However, there are a few safety precautions to take when installing a bioethanol burner in a TV wall, such as the distance between the burner and the television. Double-sided media wall
Another unique way to build a media wall is to create a media wall that divides a space and add a double-sided fireplace along with a television on one side of the wall. This makes it possible to see the flames from both sides of the room. A good example would be dividing the kitchen and living room, and adding a television on one side of the TV fireplace wall. The different ways to install a television above a fireplace
There are several possible configurations for integrating a fireplace into your TV wall, and at least one of them will suit your interior and your project. Here's a quick overview of what we've considered for you:
Option 1: A built-in fireplace with a television mounted on the wall, separated by a small shelf to protect your device from the heat given off by the burner.
Option 2: Similar to option 1, this configuration replaces the shelf with a recess in which you can install your television, offering similar protection against heat.
Option 3: This option requires a gap of at least one metre between the top of the burner and the bottom of the television. A hot air duct is built into the wall to carry hot air behind the television.
Option 4: A combination of options 2 and 3, including both a duct and a recess to protect the television and vent hot air.
Option 5: This option combines options 1 and 3, allowing you to position your television 60 cm from the burner.

How do you build a false wall for a television and a fireplace?
Installing a TV fireplace wall isn't always straightforward, however, there are several different solutions and possibilities for how to install a media TV wall.
The simplest solution for installation is to have a recess in the wall to place your bioethanol burner, with a shelf under the television to protect it from the heat of the bioethanol flames. You can also mount your television in a recess instead of placing a shelf beneath it. Another option is to create a hot air duct inside the wall that carries hot air behind the television.

Wall-mounted electric fireplace
It's also possible to install a wall-mounted electric fireplace beneath a television, creating a TV wall unit with an electric fireplace. This will still be a TV fireplace wall, but without the hassle of building a recess into the wall.
A TV fireplace wall can't be combined with a traditional gas or wood-burning fireplace, as the heat and fire would damage the television. Since televisions already generate a lot of heat, there's a risk of shortening the television's lifespan if heat dissipation is at a high level. It therefore makes sense to install a wall-mounted electric fireplace or a bioethanol fireplace on a media wall.
However, not all fireplaces can be installed on a wall with a television hanging above it. The fireplace must be 'closed' at the top, so the heat doesn't rise towards the television. The distance between the fireplace and the television must also be taken into account, but it's also possible to install a shelf between the fireplace and the television to minimise the heat exposure that reaches the television.

Installing a bioethanol fireplace and a television on the same wall
Certain safety measures need to be taken when installing a TV fireplace wall with a bioethanol fireplace, to make sure the fire and heat don't damage the television. This includes the distance between the fireplace or bioethanol burner and the bottom of the television. If the television is installed too close to the bioethanol fireplace or electric fireplace, it can potentially damage the television and shorten its lifespan. However, by following the safety measures, the television won't be overheated by the bioethanol fireplace.
Bioethanol fireplace
The bioethanol burner is the typical choice for this type of installation and is relatively compatible with most interiors. Options include one-sided, double-sided and three-sided inserts, each of which may require a slightly different installation due to their different styles. The potential of these fireplaces largely depends on what the wall in question is able to accommodate.
Electric fireplace
A wall-mounted electric fireplace is a straightforward alternative for a TV wall, since it doesn't involve an open flame. It still needs to be 'closed' at the top so heat doesn't rise towards the television, but installation is generally simpler and doesn't require the same clearances as a bioethanol burner.
Automatic remote control for bioethanol burner
It's also possible to install an automatic bioethanol burner in your TV fireplace wall. This makes it possible to control the burner automatically using a remote control. That means you can enjoy your favourite show and light the bioethanol fireplace at the same time – it couldn't be simpler!
